Yoga Sculpt: Am I ready for it?
Are you a seasoned hot yoga-goer, looking to level up your workout? We remember what it was like going to our first hot yoga sculpt class. It can be a little intimidating not knowing what to expect.
Yoga sculpt is known for being calorie-torching and high-intensity. And while it can be both of those things, it also promotes detoxification and has other incredible benefits.
What is True Hot Yoga Sculpt?
True Hot Yoga Sculpt is yoga that incorporates weights and high-intensity cardio bursts in a heated environment for maximum calorie-burning effect. A lot of the postures in this flow come from our True Hot Yoga class, so if you have taken one of our other classes, it will feel familiar.
By incorporating hand weights and cardio exercises, True Hot Yoga Sculpt is bound to get you blood flowing and your endorphins skyrocketing.
True Hot Yoga combines the best of traditional hot yoga and classical Vinyasa yoga practiced in a heated room. The elevated temperature usually stays around 102°F with 50-60% humidity. The heat paired with the humidity helps warm up the muscles, increase flexibility, promote detoxification through sweating, and assist in mindfulness. The heat is an added challenge, improving circulation and pushing you (but not too hard) to be your favorite and most determined self.
Due to the humidity, this is slightly different from just pulling out your mat in the Arizona heat. Adding weights will increase your heart rate, work out your muscles, and give you the workout you have been looking for.
Should a new student try True Hot Yoga Sculpt?
Whether or not you should try yoga sculpt as a new student is a personal choice. If you have already been taking hot yoga classes and feel comfortable with the postures, adding hand weights very well may be something you are ready for!
What should I expect during my first Yoga Sculpt class?
For your first True Hot Yoga sculpt class, you should expect a challenging workout! True Hot Yoga Sculpt classes are generally upbeat and energetic, making them highly intensive but not impossible.
You are not only encouraged but expected to take True Hot Yoga sculpt classes at your own pace- the same as all other True Hot Yoga classes. If you find that it is too much or you just need a break, you are more than welcome to lie down or exit the room and cool off.
How should I prepare for a Yoga Sculpt class?
The same as our other hot yoga classes, we recommend staying hydrated and drinking water before, during, and after class. Hydration is key for performing at optimal levels. Bring extra water to class along with an extra towel to avoid slipping.
If this is your first THY Sculpt class, we recommend taking it slow and steady.
After class, we recommend eating a protein and carb-heavy snack or meal (depending on how hungry you are.) By fueling your body with energizing foods, your recovery after class will go much smoother and it will provide your muscles with the protein to help them rebuild.
How often should I take Yoga Sculpt classes?
True hot Yoga Sculpt is similar to weight training. As a baseline, 3-4 days a week is a good starting point and will give you a good gauge of if that is too many or too few classes for your body. Sculpt classes pair nicely with other True Hot Yoga classes like Yin Yoga and Trauma Release therapy, so it is good to mix it up a bit throughout your week.
Why should I add Yoga Sculpt to my yoga routine?
There are so many benefits that come with adding True Hot Yoga Sculpt to your yoga regime. By incorporating cardio and the high-intensity weight training that comes with yoga sculpt, you will be given the opportunity to build lean muscle and challenge yourself in new ways.
